After Halloween, countless pumpkins end up in landfills. This year, we’re making a difference by diverting those pumpkins to compost! Bring your leftover pumpkins to Fertile Ground on November 2 and be part of the fun—smash your pumpkins yourself or drop them off for others to smash. Enjoy hot cocoa and donuts for just $1 while you’re here.
This event is also a food drive for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, so bring non-perishable food items to help support local families in need.
Why is this important?
Food rescue and composting are powerful tools in our fight against waste. Food rescue helps ensure that edible food feeds people, not landfills, while composting turns organic waste, like pumpkins, into nutrient-rich soil, reducing harmful methane emissions. Together, these practices reduce our environmental impact, support local communities, and promote a more sustainable, circular economy.
Note: We will not accept painted pumpkins or pumpkins with glitter.
